Sixteen Information Technology students from Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) Los Baños have successfully completed a 500-hour internship at the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). Specializing in animation and motion graphics, video editing, and programming, the interns were assigned to the UPOU Center for Open and Digital Teaching and Learning (CODTL) – Educational Media Production (EMP) Unit, where they took part in key digital media initiatives supporting open and distance learning.

Throughout their internship, the students provided valuable support across various projects of the EMP Unit. They assisted in editing video lectures and open educational resources, preparing motion graphics, editing 3D animated assets, designing visual materials, and supporting the live production of university events. They also took part in the initial stages of revamping the UPOU Networks website by helping with layout suggestions, content updates, and design elements. Through these contributions, the interns helped enhance the unit’s overall production workflow while gaining firsthand experience in the standards and processes of educational media development.

A closing program was held at the World Class Multimedia Production Building (WCMBP) of UPOU to recognize the students’ completion of their internship. Certificates were awarded to each intern, and messages of appreciation were shared by the CODTL team. The partnership between UPOU and LSPU highlights the importance of collaboration between academic institutions in nurturing future-ready graduates in the fields of information technology and digital media.
