The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), through its Center for Open and Digital Teaching and Learning (CODTL), conducted an onboarding workshop of the Training on ODeL Curriculum, Technical Infrastructure Management, and Program Administration for the  faculty members from the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP). This onboarding workshop marked the start of a comprehensive training initiative, which will proceed through online modules and application workshops until 2 July 2025.

Held on 30 May 2025 at the UPOU World Class Multimedia Production Building (WCMPB), the workshop laid the foundation for building institutional capacity in curriculum development, course design, digital resource integration, and program administration in an ODeL environment.

The workshop began with a welcome program and self-introduction of participants, followed by opening remarks from CODTL Director, Dr. Juvy Lizette Gervacio. CODTL Deputy Director for Learning Design, Dr. Joseph De Mesa, presented the course objectives and overall training structure. Asst. Prof. Ana Katrina Marcial from the Faculty of Education (FEd) facilitated the first set of learning sessions. The topics included frameworks for online teaching and learning, course design, online course facilitation, and assessment strategies in the context of online education.

In the afternoon, Dr. Gervacio led a session on the use of artificial intelligence in course development, emphasizing how AI tools can assist faculty in enhancing instructional design and delivery. CODTL Deputy Director for Educational Media Production, Dr. Benigno Agapito Jr., followed with a session on mobile video making as a pedagogical tool, offering practical techniques for media-enhanced teaching.

Participants were also given a guided tour of the studios at the World Class Multimedia Production Building (WCMPB) and took part in the shooting of sample video course materials, gaining first hand experience in producing content for online learning. The workshop concluded with a hands-on session on navigating the EXTEND course site, including troubleshooting access, previewing the online phase, and receiving final reminders for the succeeding modules.
